Éloge de l’air invites you to swing alone or in pairs in one of its 9 swing-porticos, to fly a giant flag placed at the top of a mast measuring nearly 5 meters high.

The pendulum movement that you activate by swinging makes the flags start to move, and a light animation following the tilt of the swing is triggered.

At night, the experience turns into an interactive light fluctuation. The movement of the swings is reflected in the play of light emitted by the pavilions. The entire experience is then amplified and visible from even further away, in 360°.

During the day, the installation is naturally punctuated by the noise of the air in the pavilions, the sound of the halyards on the masts and the play of light and shadow of the pavilions on the ground.

Harmony vs chaos

Step 1

Sit in a portico, and ask friends, companions or strangers to stand in different adjacent porticoes.

Step 2

First, try to synchronize your swings to create an even, harmonic movement.

Step 3

Then, be creative and try to create an organized chaos. For example, you can start at short intervals, starting from the portico at one end and ending with the portico at the other end, to create a wave effect. Otherwise, go completely random and observe the visual and sound symphony you create.
